Tyrel

From multiple-award winning director Sebastián Silva comes the Sundance Film Festival favorite TYREL. Tyler (Jason Mitchell, STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON) joins his friend on a trip to the Catskills for a weekend birthday party with several people he doesn’t know. As soon as they get there, it becomes clear that (1) he’s the only black guy, and (2) it’s going to be a weekend of heavy drinking. Although Tyler is welcomed, he can’t help but feel uneasy around a close-knit group of white guys. The combination of all the testosterone and alcohol starts to get out of hand especially as Alan (Michael Cera, ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT) joins the party, and Tyler’s precarious situation starts to feel like a nightmare.

Desolate, broke and unable to pay the rent, Nate begrudgingly moves in with his widowed father, BOB (Elliott Gould), in his New Jersey retirement golf community. Bob, always quick with a joke, uses humor to deal with all of life’s challenges, and it drives Nate crazy. As Bob often says, “life’s going to happen, whether you smile or not”. Thinking his son could benefit from some discipline, Bob sends Nate to work for ELLIS (Willie Carpenter) an older ex-Marine who runs operations at the community. This is where the fun starts.
